Draft Grades

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys B+
They addressed needs for now and the future. Byron Jones is a very athletic corner that fils a need now in the dime and next year when Morris Claiborne is a free agent. I also love the gamble on Randy Gregory at where they got him as they need a puss rusher. I like the pick of Chaz Green for depth but would have loved to see them draft a WR at some point.

New York Giants A-
They did overdraft Ereck Flowers but they needed to if they wanted him because the Rams could have taken him with the next pick. The reason for this stellar grade is getting Landon Collins in the second even though they had to move up. That filled a huge need and they drafted O.O out of UCLA as pass rusher depth. I did want to see them take a DT.

Philadelphia Eagles C
I am not all that high on Agholor as I can see some issues with his game and should have been a second round pick. I liked the pick of Rowe but they failed to address the RG position and I am not a fan of Jordan Hicks who plays a position they don’t need. I do like the pick of JaCorey Sheppard in the 6th round.

Washington Redskins B
I do like Scherff very much as a player but they could have moved back maybe 3 spots and still got hit. I do understand the need to take him as that offensive line aside from Trent Williams is crap and they will need to protect the new 1st round QB they will take in 2016. I love the pick of Jameson Crowder in the 4th who will play in the slot and Preston Smith can help rush the passer. I don’t like the pick of Matt Jones.

AFC East

Buffalo Bills D
They took the wrong FSU corner in Darby and Karlos Williams isn’t very good. There where better lineman available than John Miller but I liked the pick of Nick O’Leary in the 6th as I think he can be used effectively as a 2nd TE. Even without the 1st round pick a lackluster draft.

Miami Dolphins B+
They got lucky when DeVante Parker fell to them at 14 and they did the right thing in taking him. I see why they would draft Jordan Phillips who could turn into a good pro but they have other bigger needs such as corner and linebacker. We will see how much PHillips plays this season. They can also sign Lael Collins which would be an unbelievable haul.

New England Patriots B
I love the value of drafting Malcolm Brown with the last pick of the first round and he could immediately be implemented into their rotation. I don’t like their second round pick of Jordan Richards in the second round but I like the pick of Tre Jackson in the 4th whom they could groom for a guard position. I also like the pick of Trey Flowers from Arkansas. I would have liked for them to grab a RB.

New York Jets A
I could only imagine the look in that draft room when Leonard Williams fell into their lap at 6. I had him as my top overall player in the draft. They addressed needs across the board with players I generally like in Devin Smith at WR in the 2nd Lorenzo Mauldin at OLB in the 3rd and Jarvis Harrison at RG in the 5th. I am not crazy on Bryce Petty but in the 4th I can understand the gamble. An excellent draft to pair with a active free agency.

NFC North

Chicago Bears A-
They had an overall great draft addressing needs now and in the future. Kevin White has a very high ceiling but I think DeVante Parker has a much higher floor and is a safer prospect but both at some point will make a trip to Hawaii for the pro bowl. I loved the pick of Eddie Goldman as the new Nose Tackle and Hroniss Grasu to be the long term center. I didn’t like the pick of Langford in the 4th as they have credible RB depth already.

Detroit Lions C-
They got a player who I am very high on but would thought could be had in the second in Laken Tomlinson to play LG. They also got Manny Ramirez in that trade who will provide depth along the interior Oline. I didn’t like the pick of Ameer Abdullah as I think he’s too slow for the NFL. I thought the Alex Carter pick was good value in the 3rd but he has a relatively low ceiling. They failed to address RT, DE pass rusher and wide receiver.

Green Bay Packers C
They addressed needs in the secondary grabbing safety Damarious Randall in the 1st and Quinten Rollins in the 2nd. After that though I am lukewarm on Jake Ryan but not big on any of their other picks. I would have liked to see some beef be selected on the defensive line.

Minnesota Vikings A
A really solid draft all around. Trae Waynes in the first to give them a partner to pair with the young Xavier Rhodes for a long long time. They got Eric Kendricks in the 2nd who will start right away and is a dynamic tackler at the MLB position. They addressed positions of need in Danielle Hunter as DE depth. TJ Clemmings as a developmental LT and Stefon Diggs as Wide Receiver depth. An excellent draft by Rick Spielman and Co.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens B+
Ozzie Newsome is one of the best in the business. The selection of Maxx Williams is perfect for Baltimore and he will be one of the top Tight Ends in the league one day. Perriman has blazing speed but is a little bit one dimensional. They got Carl Davis at decent value but where is he going to play and can he rush the passer from the inside? I do like their 4th round pick out of Kentucky in Smith as pass rushing depth.

Cleveland Browns C-
This was an up and down draft for them. I love the pick of Danny Shelton to help the leagues worst run defense. I thought the pick of Erving was ok but hey have other needs they need to address. Erving will play
RG this year and slide over to center when Alex Mack leaves. I don’t like the pick of Nate Orchard in the 2nd round or Xavier Cooper in the 3rd. Taking Duke Johnson could have a big effect but people question his longevity being sized short. They failed to address their biggest areas of need early in WR and TE.

Cincinnati Bengals C
They drafted for need rather than best player truly available I feel. I don’t like them picking Ogbuehi at 21 as that was way too high. I do like the Jake Fisher pick in the second round and they are lucky that he fell to them. I also like the Paul Dawson pick in the third and am alright with the Tyler Kroft selection as their 2nd TE. We will see how Josh Shaw does but he already lied to the world once.

Pittsburgh Steelers B
They were surprised when Bud Dupree was still on the board at 22 and that fills a big need as well for the future. This means all their linebackers are now 1st round picks and 3 in the last 3 years. I like the pick of Senquez Golson in the 2nd even though his height is a problem. Sammie Coates is a burner but in the 3rd round I understand how it fits the role. They addressed depth throughout the draft but didn’t touch much along the defensive line.

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons A+
This is a team that had truly lots of holes coming in and did a fine job of addressing many of those holes. Beasley in the 1st at OLB Jalen Collins in the 2nd at corner to replace the awful Robert Alford. Tevin Coleman in the 3rd who could be a fantasy steal and Justin Hardy in the 4th who is a personal favorite of mine and will play in the slot and finally Grady Jarrett for defensive line depth in the 5th. An overall excellent draft although they need offensive lineman.

Carolina Panthers D-
This was a very lackluster draft in my perspective and they not only missed on some prospects they drafted but failed to fill holes on their roster such as LT. Shaq Thompson I see as an average 4-3 OLB but hose can usually get picked in the later rounds. Devin Funchess is an odd player because he doesn’t have the separation speed to be a WR or the physicality to be a TE. They traded up for him as well. They needed depth and other positions to fill and they didn’t do it. A really bad draft.

New Orleans Saints C+
They had a lot of high picks and the results do vary. Andrus Peat I think will one day become a good left tackle but thats not a position of need. Stephone Anthony fills a long term role but was a bit over drafted. Kikaha was high on many peoples wish lists and can rush the passer which is much needed on this team. I love their third round grabbing my second rated QB in Garrett Grayson and one of my favorite corners in this draft in PJ Williams who I had a first round grade on. They failed to address Guard, Defensive line and Tight End.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers F
I am not a Winston fan at all and think they just threw the 1st overall pick into the garbage. Donavan Smith isn’t a top talent and will likely bust while Ali Marpet needs time to develop and refine his skills. I am lukewarm on Kwon Alexander but that is not a position of immediate need. A big F for the Bucs.

AFC South

Houston Texans A
They addressed needs and got top level players at great spots n the draft. Kevin Johnson reminds me of a young Cortland Finnegan and should help their secondary this year and beyond. Bednardrick McKinney was my top rated ILB and I love that pick to play next to Cushing. They got Strong in the 3rd round who will not only complement their WR corps but become an integral part of it. A solid draft but I would have addressed the defensive line earlier than the 6th round.

Indianapolis Colts D+
I thought this was an overall lackluster draft for the Colts that failed to address needs. I do very much like the pick of Henry Anderson in the 3rd round and he should fit right into the system. I wouldn’t have taken Dorsett in the 1st round especially with the wide receivers they already have. They addressed corner in the third with D’Joun Smith but I don’t think that was a good pick. They will look back on this draft as a “what if” draft.

Jacksonville Jaguars B-
I am not as high on their draft as other people. I love the pick of Sample in the 4th round and he will be their free safety of the future. I don’t see the real need to draft a RB in the 2nd round or while I like AJ Cann the need to draft him with 2 good guards unless he will play Center. Rashaad Greene has a relatively low ceiling. Dante Fowler I thought was over drafted but he should become a good player. They should have taken Leonard Williams.

Tennessee Titans A-
Mariota was my top rated QB and I had Dorial Green-Beckham as a top 10 talent in this draft. After those two I am not all that crazy on the rest of their draft. Poutasi is a little bit of a developmental project but could be a potential mauler inside. Blackson will play a role for them along the defensive line and could be useful against the run. A pretty good draft for the Titans but DO NOT START MARIOTA FROM DAY 1.

NFC West

Arizona Cardinals C+
I do like the pick of DJ Humphries who will likely be their RT. Other than that in was a meddling draft with them selecting for need at OLB with Markus Golden but I don’t believe that was the top player at the position still on the board. David Johnson should challenge Andre Ellington for playing time and potentially his job this season. I wanted them to select a Nose Tackle.

San Fransisco 49ers C-
I really do like the pick of Arik Armstead who will take the spot of Justin Smith and could turn into a beast. After that I understand the pick of Eli Harold but I am not crazy on him as a prospect. They have taken a first round safety the past 2 years so I don’t know why they took Tartt instead of addressing other needs such as ILB. I really am only a big fan of their 1st pick.

Seattle Seahawks C-
I know they didn’t have a first round pick due to the Jimmy Graham trade but this was still a lackluster draft. I don’t understand the selection of Frank Clark when there were much more talented players available. They made a big and bold move to move up for Tyler Lockett which I think is a good move and he will be a good player. They selected 3 offensive lineman who will be needed and relied on this season.

St. Louis Rams B+
Todd Gurley was a surprising pick but he is a game changing talent that could force 8 men in the box. They got a road grater at RT in Havenstein out of Wisconsin. I would have liked to see a receiver selected but they didn’t. I do like the pick of Jamon Brown who I currently see as the favorite for their RG position. Mannion at QB could be a nice backup but I am not crazy on his prospects of starting in the NFL.

AFC West

Denver Broncos B+
They had an overall pretty good draft addressing major needs such as RT. They moved up for Shane Ray but he is the replacement for DeMarcus Ware and can help rush the passer on latter downs and in the 4th quarter which is needed for them. Sambrailo should be the opening day starter at RT which would move Chris Clark inside to LG. Hueremen provides nice depth for them at TE.

Kansas City Chiefs C+
I really did like the pick of Marcus Peters as he is both a very highly rated player of mine and he helps a big position of need. After that I really didn’t love the rest of the draft especially Mike Morse who I don’t think can hold up at RT in the NFL. Chris Conley has some upside and I think can help them this year at the #3 and #4 wide receiving positions. They got one right but the rest is a little murky.

Oakland Raiders B
Amari Cooper was a top 3 player for me in this draft and one of the safest picks in this draft. He also fits the Raiders biggest need and will help Derek Carr immensely. Mario Edwards wasn’t my favorite pick or my favorite fit for the system. I really like the pick of Clive Walford who fell due to disciplinary issues. An overall good quality draft class by Reggie McKenzie.

San Diego Chargers B-
The trade up for Melvin Gordon cost them some picks in the later rounds but Gordon is still a quality RB and gives the Chargers a nice spark. The Pick of Perryman will help solidify the ILB position of that defense next to Manti Teo. After those two I don’t see any real long term NFL talent unless Mager shows real refinement.

2015 NFL Mock Draft with Trades

Just a little mock draft on what I Think will or could happen.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jameis Winston QB Florida State
I am not a fan of Winston as it pertains to the NFL and I find big flaws in his game that will make him a bust. The Bucs have all but stated they’re taking him with the first pick.

2. Tennessee Titans (The Chargers trade Phillip Rivers for the #2 Pick) Marcus Mariota QB Oregon
If you get the chance to acquire a pro bowl QB in his prime you do it! Rivers doesn’t want to play in LA and is from the south going to school at nearby NC State. I do like Mariota a lot but I don’t think he should start from day 1. IF the Chargers move to LA then I believe they would have to slap the franchise tag on Rivers or try to trade him when he has less value. They get a franchise QB here in what could be a transition year.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars (Giants get this pick for #9 and 2016 first round pick) Leonard Williams DT USC
There is a lot of optimism this season for the Giants fueled by a full year of Odell Beckham and a healthy Victor Cruz. On defense they have some issues specifically at safety and the defensive tackles. If they get run on like last year then it will be a wasted season and while Jonathan Hankins is OK they NEED someone to play next to him. I have Leonard Williams as my best player in the draft and someone who can hold his own against the run and be an effective pass rusher from inside starting week 1. Williams could be the big defensive peace for this team to take the next step.

4. Oakland Raiders Amari Cooper WR Alabama
Reggie McKenzie has done a very good job at the draft since he has been named GM nabbing Derek Carr, Khalil Mack, Gabe Jackson and DJ Hayden among others and I think he makes the right pick here. Cooper would give Carr another target along with Crabtree and James Jones to really get the ball rolling. There will be a little bit bigger expectations in Oakland this season.

5. Washington Redskins Kevin White WR West Virginia
Pierre Garcon and Desean Jackson will make around 20M combined this season and next. Adding Kevin White will allow one of those to be cut for the 2016 season to better manage the cap and will also give the Redskins another weapon. If RG3 is mold again with a receiving core like this he will be a free agent in 2016.

6. New York Jets Dante Fowler OLB Florida
The Jets have only 2 real glaring needs and thats a QB and a younger pass rusher. Dante Fowler can be used situationally in his first year before settling into a full time roll. With no QB on the board a pass rusher should be the pick and they could possibly move back from this pick.

7. Chicago Bears (The Dolphins get this pick for 14, 47 and 2016 3rd) Trae Waynes CB Michigan State
The Dolphins are in a position and need to win now otherwise hell could freeze over. With the signing of Greg Jennings and the trade for Kenny Stills to pair with Jarvis Laundry and Rishard Matthews I think they think they’re set at WR so they focus on corner where they are thin outside of Grimes who is 32 years old. Waynes is the top corner in this draft and is worth moving up for.

8. Atlanta Falcons Vic Beasley OLB/DE Clemson
The Falcons lack someone who can effectively rush the passer. Beasley would give them a dominant force on the edge which would tremendously help this defense which was horrible last year. They also have offensive line needs among others but you can draft a guard in the 2nd but you can’t get a pass rusher like Beasley there.

9. New York Giants (Jacksonville Jaguars) Danny Shelton DT Washington
The Jaguars finished 27th in the league in rush defense last year and that needs to be improved if they want any shot of being competitive. They did sign Jared Odrick in the offseason but he’s not a run stuffer. Shelton at 340 pounds would eat up some space and demand double teams in many occasions.

10. St. Louis Rams DeVante Parker WR Louisville
The Rams have a lot of talent on that roster helped in large part due to the RG3 trade. They acquired Nick Foles in the offseason and seemed destined to be competitive this season. Parker can be the #1 receiver on this team and play next to talented players like Tavon Austin. Parker has #1 WR potential that those other receivers do not.

11. Minnesota Vikings Shane Ray DE Missouri
The Vikings don’t have any position of major need but as a 4-3 Mike Zimmer team it is important to be able to roll pass rushers and keep them fresh. Throw that in with the fact that Robison is 32 years old then Ray makes a lot of sense here. He can be rotated with Robison and Everson Griffen and will take a full time position next year.

12. Cleveland Browns Breshad Perriman WR UCF
You can say what you want about the Browns at QB but they really have nothing to work with besides the left part of their offensive line. They have no TE no RB and their only average to above average WR is Dwayne Bowe. Other than that they signed Brian Hartline and have Andrew Hawkins. Perriman will give this team a blazing speed receiver capable of stretching the field. I think they will consider Todd Gurley here as well.

13. New Orleans Saints Brandon Scherff OT/OG Iowa
This may not be the sexiest pick but at age 36 they need to keep Drew Brees upright and from getting hit. They have a hole left by trading Ben Grubbs to the Chiefs and both Zach Strief and Jahri Evans are 31. Scherff can step in immediately to fill the hole at LG and eventually slide over to RT.

14. Miami Dolphins (Chicago Bears) (Bears trade pick to Browns for 19 and 2016 3rd) Todd Gurley RB Georgia
Well as I said earlier the Browns could consider taking Gurley as they need a running back. Gurley could be a dominant back in the NFL and give the Browns an offensive playmaker icon that they desperately need.

15. San Francisco 49ers Dorial Green Beckham WR Oklahoma
The 49ers have some holes all over the field and have been in complete turmoil this offseason. With Anquan Boldin aging and Torrey Smith being really a speed receiver DGB would fit in nice. at 6’5 DGB has the size to go up and make that big catch. His talent is worth the behavioral risks.

16. Houston Texans Arik Armstead DE Oregon
The Texans don’t really have any big holes that they need to fill except ILB next to Cushing which can be addressed later. They could use another 3-4 DE to line up opposite of Watt where they currently have Jared Crick which is nothing spectacular. Armstead is 6’7 and can eat up blockers to allow Jadeveon Clowey or Whitney Mercilus to attack the quarterback.

17. San Diego Chargers Eddie Goldman DT Florida State
The Chargers have more holes than you think and with the trading of Rivers and drafting of Mariota they continue to get younger in a critical area. Eddie Goldman can play nose tackle and stuff the run giving the Chargers one of the best and youngest front three in the league with Liuget and Kendall Reyes. I can also see them taking Melvin Gordon but that isn’t the most efficient choice here.

18. Kansas City Chiefs (Lions get this pick and #193 for #24 and 3rd round pick) Ereck Flowers OT Miami
With the Chiefs not having the best match here the Lions se the potential for a trade. They have a need at LG and at RT but Flowers will be a tackle probably right tackle. He can mow people over in the run game and should keep improving against the pass rush. Quality pick here.

19. Cleveland Browns (Chicago Bears) Andrus Peat OT Stanford
The Bears still have holes on this roster but traded down and accumulated a bunch of picks later in this draft and next year. Jay Cutler struggled last season but they need to reinforce that offensive line as well. Jordan Mills needs to be replaced at RT although I see Peat as a long term LT. Bushrod could transition to the right side which would improve this unit as a whole.

20. Philadelphia Eagles La’el Collins OT/OG LSU
The Eagles don’t have many needs except safety but reports are that the Eagles aren’t interested in Landon Collins. The Eagles have a hole at RG left by Herramans going to the Colts and Jason Peters won’t play forever. Collins would be a day 1 starter at RG for this team.

21. Cincinnati Bengals Landon Collins S Alabama
The Bengals don’t have glaring needs on this roster and usually looks big toward the future when drafting. Both George Iloka and Reggie Nelson will be free agents after this season and the team will HAVE to franchise AJ Green if he doesn’t sign a long term deal. Collins should be good value at this spot.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers Marcus Peters CB Washington
The Steelers secondary is atrocious and in need of major help. Polamalu just retired meaning that Shamarko Thomas will likely take his place alongside the subpar Mike Mitchell. The Steelers might have the worst cornerback group in the league and opted to invest money in Cortez Aleen instead of Keenan Lewis which was a colossal failure. Peters would give this team a cornerback with an attitude capable of matching up against top receivers.

23. Detroit Lions (Kansas City Chiefs) Jaelen Strong WR Arizona State
The Chiefs infamously had no Wide receivers catch a touchdown for the first time since 1950. They have already cut Dwayne Bowe and signed Jeremy Maclin but they don’t have a recover capable of catching the fade in the end zone or up high. Strong has a hairline fracture in his hand but I don’t expect that to hinder him in time for training camp.

24. Arizona Cardinals Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin
The Cardinals are very interested in Adrian Peterson but the Vikings are demanding a first round pick which Keim and Arians won’t give up for a 30 year old RB. Gordon would give this offense a running back which they haven’t possessed in a while.

25. Carolina Panthers DJ Humphries OT Florida
After releasing Byron Bell they have no one to play left tackle and already have a fragile situation with Michael Oher at RT. DJ will play left tackle probably from week one and that should improve the team in both the running game and give Newton more time to throw.

26. Baltimore Ravens (Buccaneers get this pick for #34 and 3rd round pick) TJ Clemmings OT Pittsburgh
The Buccaneers have already drafted Jameis Winston but need to protect him as they currently have 3 holes on the offensive line including Demar Dotson slated to start at left Tackle. I have question marks about Clemmings but some teams love his projectability. He would play LT.

27. Dallas Cowboys Malcolm Brown DT Texas
The Cowboys magic carpet ride last season will not be repeated at least on defense with the group that they have now. They need to beef up that line and Brown can do that being able to stuff the run and should get some heat on the quarterback.

28. Denver Broncos Jake Fisher OT Oregon
We all know that they need to protect od man Peyton and need to plug up one spot on the offensive line. Chris Clark would slide over to left guard and Fisher would start at left tackle. It is critical for this team to keep Peyton up right.

29. Indianapolis Colts Cameron Erving C Florida State
This is a make or break year for the Colts as owner Jim Irsay is expecting them to go far. Luck needs a center like Peyton had with Jeff Saturday and Erving can be that guy which would make this line one of the most complete units in the NFL.

30. Green Bay Packers Benardrick McKinney ILB Mississipi State
The Packers want to move Clay Matthews back outside and need a middle linebacker on this defense after cutting AJ Hawk. McKinney is one of my favorite players in this draft.

31. New Orleans Saints Alvin “Bud” Dupree OLB Kentucky
After picking Brandon Scherff to solidify the offensive line they can look to address pass rusher and Dupree is extremely good value here. He can join a rotation that includes Junior Gallete, Anthony Spencer, and Paryls Haralson which is quite an underwhelming group.

32. New England Patriots (Falcons get this pick for 42, 107 and 2016 6th rounder) Maxx Williams TE Minnesota
No one should be surprised about the Patriots trading out of the first round. The Falcons need a tight end for Matt Ryan which they haven’t had since Tony Gonzalez retired. Maxx can add another element which is much needed to this offense.

33. Tennessee Titans Kevin Johnson CB Wake Forest
Already truing for Phillip Rivers they can look to address the defense where they need another corner. They also have a need at 3-4 DE but that type of player isn’t available right now. Johnson would prove to be a value pick here.

34. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Ravens) Nelson Agholor WR USC
The Ravens lost Torrey Smith in free agency and they have a need for another WR. Agholor could be an important pick if there offense wants to be competitive this season.

35. Oakland Raiders Randy Gregory DE Nebraska
The fall finally stops for Randy Gregory. He has talent but there are numerous concerns about him including his drug tests and his inability to stop the run due to his lean frame. The Raiders badly need a defensive end.

36. Jacksonville Jaguars Damarious Randall FS Arizona State
Already taking Danny Shelton they now take a safety in Randall to play next to Jonathan Cyprien. The Jaguars continue to beef up that defense which is much needed. They could also use a number 1 receiver but that type of player isn’t available in the 2nd round and could be filled if Justin Blackman is reinstated.

37. New York Jets Garrett Grayson QB Colorado St
After taking Dante Fowler they can go after their biggest need which is quarterback. I have Grayson as the 2nd best QB in this class behind Mariota and I think he could be a steal. I think he can beat out Geno Smith to start from day one unless they prefer Fitzpatrick.

38. Washington Redskins (49ers get this pick for 46 and 4th round pick) Byron Jones CB UConn
The 49ers lost both of their starting corners again this offseason and they need to draft someone to fill that spot. Jones is very athletic as by his ridiculous combine numbers and his tape isn’t bad either. He is of course somewhat of a risk but with his athletic ability he can mold into a top corner.

39. Chicago Bears Devin Smith WR Ohio State
After already taking Andrus Peat to be the LT of the future they focus on filling the hole left by the departing Brandon Marshall by grabbing Devin Smith. Smith might be a little more of a burner than a complete wide receiver especially in his rookie season which is fine as they have Eddie Royal in the slot and Alshon Jefferey as their number 1.

40. New York Giants Laken Tomlinson OG Duke
After giving up their 2016 first round pick to move up in the draft to select Leonard Williams they need a prospect that can come in and help them win now starting right away. They signed John Jerry to possibly play guard but he’s not very good nor has close to the ceiling that Tomlinson does.

41. St. Louis Rams Jalen Collins CB LSU
Collins could go much higher than this but he’s had injury concerns and has only started 10 games in his collegiate career. After taking DeVante Parker they will look to address the cornerback position which they have selected secondary help in now 3 of the past 4 drafts with reasonable success.

42. Atlanta Falcons (Patriots) Eric Rowe CB Utah
The Patriots lost a lot of talent in the offseason and have more needs than you might think. IT wouldn’t be a draft if the Patriots didn’t move down to accumulate more picks. Eric Rowe would add depth to that secondary where they lost Revis and Browner and will probably play a bigger role as the year moves on.

43. Cleveland Browns Jordan Phillips DT Oklahoma
They have already adressesd the offense getting Perriman and Todd Gurley and still need a tight end but that player isn’t available right now. Phil Taylor was injured the last half of the season as teams ran the ball on the Browns like they were water. Phillips would give them depth on the defensive line and heavy packages and could take over as the starting nose in the near future.

44. New Orleans Saints Phillip Dorsett WR Miami
They addressed certain needs earlier in the draft grabbing a lineman in Scherff and a pass rusher in Dupree and now they can focus on the future by getting a WR in Dorsett who can hopefully replace an aging Marques Colston in the future. They do need someone on the line at defensive tackle but the draft isn’t deep at 3-4 DT which is a problem for the Saints.

45. Minnesota Vikings Ronald Darby CB Florida State
The Vikings already taking a pass rusher for the future in Shane Ray they can select a corner to help them in the future with Darby. They have had success selecting a Florida State corner in Xavier Rhodes and Darby is very fast but needs to refine his overall game.

46. San Francisco 49ers (Redskins) Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA
The Redskins would love to move back to acquire more picks and they have already added Kevin White. I think they get a steal in Kendricks who is very talented and can start right away. The Redskins don’t have an above average inside linebacker and Kendricks could be a pro bowl talent.

47. Miami Dolphins (Chicago Bears) Quinten Rollins Miami (Ohio)
They have already taken Andrus Peat to be their future LT and Devin Smith to compliment Alshon Jeffery and now can find a corner to play next to Kyle Fuller for the next decade. Rollins didn’t play against a lot of quality opponents in college due to him playing at such a small school.

48. San Diego Chargers Eli Harold OLB Virginia
The Chargers have needs on defense and even though they addressed one of those needs by drafting Eddie Goldman they continue stockpiling players. I am not crazy on Harold and doubt his ability to sustain solidified pressure at the NFL level. They would need a replacement for Melvin Ingram soon.

49. Kansas City Chiefs Shaq Thompson LB Washington
After addressing the wide receiving corps in Jaelen Strong they need to upgrade some spots on their defense and can start at what will be a transition for Thompson for 4-3 OLB to 3-4 ILB. I think this transition can go over fairly well and Thompson can blend in with the veterans on that defense.

50. Buffalo Bills Grady Jarrett DT Clemson
The Bills could be looking for a linebacker but also for some more meat up front. They will give Darius a HUGE deal soon and Kyle Williams isn’t getting any younger so insurance is needed on that line and we know Rex loves drafting lineman.

51. Houston Texans Stephone Anthony ILB Clemson
The Texans continue to upgrade their defense along with Arik Armstead which could be one of the leagues best next year adding a ILB in Stephone Anthony. He should play next to Brian Cushing and all see the field plenty this year and is good depth for Cushing and his inured past.

52. Philadelphia Eagles Ifo Ekpre Olomu CB Oregon
After shoring up the offensive line with Collins the Eagles and Chip Kelly take an Oregon Duck to play corner in the future with Walter Thurmond, Brandon Boykin and Nolan Carroll set to be free agents at the end of the year. You know that Chip loves his Ducks.

53. Cincinatti Bengals Owamagbe Odigihizuwa DE UCLA
The Bengals got a safety in Landon Collins and now add a pass rusher who could help them down the line. They don’t have an immediate need at the position but can use depth there as without getting pressure in a 4-3 your defense will be shredded.

54. Detroit Lions (Cowboys get this pick for #60 and 5th round pick) Brett Hundley QB UCLA
Jeryy almost drafted Johnny Manziel last season before his son stopped him and made him pick the top player on their board in Zach Martin which proved to be a very good choice. In the second round after already taking Malcolm Brown to fix the defensive interior they take their QB of the future in Hundley. Romo is 34 years old so Hundley will have time to learn and develop.

55. Arizona Cardinals Hroniss Grasu C Oregon
The Cardinals need to keep improving an offensive that was miserable without Carson Palmer. They already got a running back in Gordon and now can take what they will hope to be their long term center in Grasu. He will play next to recent signing Mike Iupati.

56. Pittsburgh Steelers PJ Williams CB Florida State
The Steelers even after taking Marcus Peters continue to fix their broken secondary by selecting PJ Williams. William Gay is a free agent after this season and Cortez Allen is likely to be cut unless things improve. The Steelers will have turned a position of major weakness into a position of strength.

57. Carolina Panthers Rashad Greene WR Florida State
After taking Humphries in the first round to play LT they can stick in the state of Florida to grab Kelvin Benjamins old buddy in Greene. Greene is nothing special but should be able to move the chains and is a decent route runner. Complimentary receiver.

58. Baltimore Ravens Tevin Coleman RB Indiana
The Ravens resigned Forsett but that marriage doesn’t look like its going to be a long one with him already being 30 years old. They addressed WR with Agholor and now focus on their backfield where they get a talented runner in Coleman whose gone under the radar.

59. Denver Broncos Carl Davis DT Iowa
The Broncos after taking offensive line with Fisher look to address the defense which has suffered the loss of Terrance Knighton who left in free agency. Davis would give them death on the line and he can factor into the rotation.

60. Dallas Cowboys (Lions) Preston Smith DE Mississipi State
The Lions after taking Flowers in the first could use some depth along the defensive ends and pass rushers. Smith has some good size and should be effective stopping the run as well.

61. Indianapolis Colts D’Joun Smith CB Florida Atlantic
The Colts having drafted a center already now deal with defense where they could use some more bodies preferably up front and in the secondary. Smith gives them more depth at corner which is needed when they try to close out games.

62. Green Bay Packers Sammie Coates WR Auburn
The Packers have grabbed my favorite inside linebacker in this draft in McKinney but now resort to further toys. Coates might be more of a burner than a complete wide receiver but that might be needed here and can add another dimension to this offense allowing Cobb and Nelson to work underneath.

63. Seattle Seahawks AJ Cann OG South Carolina
The Seahawks traded their 1st round pick away in the Jimmy Graham trade and also traded away Unger who will likely be replaced by Chris Myers. They still have a need at guard after Carpenter left to the Jets. Can should come in and compete for the starting spot in training camp.

64. New England Patriots Ali Marpet OG Hobart
They have already taken a corner to help replace Revis and Browner. A developmental guard from Hastings New York has a long and interesting background but is noticeably raw. He needs to be developed but once he is the upside is there.

NFL Mock Draft 2015

1. Tampa Bay (2-14)- Jameis Winston QB Florida State
I am not at all a winston fan but I think its inevitable at this point for Winston to wind up in Tampa Bay. There are flaws TO his Game starting with his intelligence and I do believe the Bucs will grow to regret this pick.
2. Tennessee (2-14)- Leonard Williams DE USC
The best player in the draft and he would be a nice fit for their 3-4 defense under Ray Horton. They were awful overall on defense but especially against the run. I would have to imagine that 3 players must be involved to block Williams and Orakpo otherwise they could reck havoc .
3. Jacksonville (3-13)- Danny Shelton DT Washington
The Jaguars are in a very strange spot in the draft and will most likely move back in a trade with a team that wants Mariota. We have seen them surprise us before like last draft and I think they will again. They finished 27th in the league in rush defense last season and need an upgrade in the interior of the defensive line. Shelton is a mountain at 340 pounds but has good feet. He could command a double team on the inside and be paired with a rotating Odrick or Sen’Derick Marks both of whom aren’t anything above a average to below average player. On a side note many people are saying Dante Fowler Jr. here but I don’t think that will happen as there are many pass rushers in this draft ad if they move back they could get one of similar quality at a fraction of the price.
4. Oakland (3-13)- Kevin White WR West Virginia
You can knock GM Reggie McKenzie on his free agency spending and letting players go but you can;t knock him on his draft history. So far he has taken players such as DJ Hayden, Khalil Mack, Derek Carr and Gabe Jackson all who look promising as potential impact players. Historically the Raiders love players with speed and Kevin White possesses that with a sub 4.35 40. Derek Carr needs a number 1 target and White can wreck havoc on opposing secondaries but I do think he is more risky than Amari Cooper.
5. Washington (4-12)- Marcus Mariota QB Oregon
If Mariota is gone then I could see them trading back and gaining more picks. New GM Scott McGloghlan took over a trainwreck of an NFL roster partially due to not having a first round pick since the RG3 trade. They have holes all over the field although I love what Scott has done in Free Agency this year picking up Talent and potential in Chris Culliver, Terrance Knighton and Stephen Paea. Mariota will be able to sit and watch for a year as RG3 plays behind the worst offensive line in the league before taking the reigns in 2016. I am a Mariota fan but I truly believe he needs to wait a little and become seasoned to the pace in the NFL as well as a different system.
6. New York Jets (4-12)- Vic Beasley OLB Clemson
The Jets have a surprisingly good roster and few holes outside of QB and a young pass rusher. They signed a trio of corners (Revis, Cromarti, and Buster Skrine) to solve their weakness at corner and also have Millner coming back from injury. They also signed Marcus Gilchrist to play next to Calvin Pryor and traded for Brandon Marshall at WR. With no Qb worth taking its important to get younger at OLB with both Calvin Pace and Jason Babin 34 years old. Beasley and Quinton Couples would pair as pass rushers for about a decade and could be one of the most formidable duos in the league. I am high on Beasley.
7. Chicago (5-11)- Amari Cooper WR Alabama
With the trade of Brandon Marshall to the Jets they lack a target opposite of Alshon Jeffery and also need a Right Tackle but that can be taken in round two. Cooper will give Cutler two high end targets to throw to and will really put the pressure on Cutler as if he struggles you can’t say there was “no weapons” as he would have Forte, Martelus Bennett, Jeffery, and Cooper. They had an awful defense but they signed some short term patches like Ray McDonald and Jarvis Jenkins while signing Pernell McPhee to big money.
8. Atlanta (6-10)- Dante Fowler Jr. Florida
New defensive coordinator Richard Smith stressed the importance of sacks and QB pressure but the Falcons with the leagues worst defense are lacking a pass rusher. They currently have Tyson Jackson, Kroy Bierman and Adrian Clayborn at DE which is awful. Fowler would give them a big improvement over those guys and be a starter from day 1. The real question with Fowler is how high his ceiling is and how much better can he get.
9. New York Giants (6-10)- Landon Collins S Alabama
They lost Antrel Rolle to the Bears and Stevie Brown is currently a free agent although rumors suggest the Giants want him back. Their current safeties are Cooper Taylor and Nat Berhe which is potential for major problems during the season. Landon Collins could start from day one and bring potentially impact play for this team. They might be able to move back with a trade with a team such as the Dolphins or Chargers and be able to get him.
10. St. Louis (6-10)- DeVante Parker WR Louisville
There is a ton of talent on the Rams roster largely due to the RG3 trade and with Nick Foles I would guess they are expecting to make the playoffs. They have holes on the offensive line that could be patched up later in the draft or through a stopgap in free agency but they need a number one receiver which is not available in Free Agency. Parker would be able to stretch the field and be a reliable target for Foles and the Rams offense. To match the defense the offense has criminally underrated potential with receivers, Parker, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, Kenny Britt and Brian Quick. Tight ends Jared Cook and Lance Kendricks and breakout RB Tre Mason. Watch Out!
11. Minnesota (7-9)- Dorial Green-Beckham WR Oklahoma (Mizzou)
The Vikings are another team that will be in contention for the playoffs this season as they ail start with Teddy from day one. He needs another receiver to pair with Mike Wallace and Corderelle patterson who are both similar speed players. Beckham is extremely talented and without his problems at Mizzou could go in the top 5 but he falls here due to uncertainty. He is 6’5 and has the speed and power to go over the middle. They could also use a MLB, future pass rusher, and young corner but they will address those needs later.
12. Cleveland (7-9)- Brandon Scherff OT/OG Iowa
The Browns have two first round picks and need a WR for their offense but will have to wait with many of the top options off the board. They have the best offensive line in the league from the Center (Alex Mack) on over left to Bitiono and Joe Thomas but their right side needs work. Mitchell Schwartz has been awful at Rt while John Greco is subpar. Brandon Scherff would take one of those spots presumably RT while you can let Greco and Schwartz duke it out for RG. As far as the offensive one goes it maybe tacky to say but your only as strong as your weakest link and one deficiency can destroy your whole game plan.
13. New Orleans (7-9)- Arik Armstead DE Oregon
The Saints were woeful on defense last season and it needs to be fixed. I know they lost their big pickup Jairus Byrd early but they were so incredibly bad that other players must be held accountable. They picked up Brandon Browner and Danell Ellerbe to help that defense but they need help up front where they lacked a pass rush and had a porous run defense. The 6’7 Armstead will team with Cameron Jordan to create one of the better 3-4 DE combos in the league. They need Stanley Jean Baptiste to pick it up this season but they should be a lot better.
14. Miami (8-8)- Trae Waynes CB Michigan State
The Dolphins have made splashy signings the past 3 season (Wallace, Albert and Suh) and have high end talent but they lack depth in certain areas. One of them is Wr where they can’t get value at this point in the draft and another is Cb as Cortland Finnegan retired and where if Waynes is available they should grab him immediately. He would pair with one of the better corners in the league in Brett Grimes and would have to cover receivers such as Juilien Edelman, Eric Decker, and Robert Woods. The Dolphins next pick would most likely be a linebacker Oline or a WR.
15. San Francisco (8-8)- Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA
The 49ers had the unluckiest offseason with the retirement of star ILB Partick Willis due to injury and Chris Borland due to fearfulness and stupidity. Eric Kendricks is the brother of Eagles ILB Mychal Kendricks and could be a great player. The 49ers have been very effective in the first round recently with the exception of Jonathan Baldwin. They have a few other needs as well but they must fix the defense after losing Willis, Justin Smith, Borland, Chris Culliver and Perish Cox.
16. Houston (9-7)- Jaelen Strong WR Arizona State
The Texans waived goo bye to their franchise player Andre Johnson and need a receiver opposite of DeAndre Hopkins as Cecil Shorts III is a slot receiver. They will most likely select a linebacker in the next round. They might be reaching a little bit here but this will fill a need that must be filled to give Brian Hoyer a chance to be competitive.
17. San Diego (9-7)- Eddie Goldman NT Florida State
The Chargers are a team that could move up in the draft and we have heard rumors of Phillip Rivers being involved in a Mariota trade but I doubt the Chargers would do that. They need a big man on their defensive line to stuff the run and play next to Corey Liuget and Kendall Reyes. They could also use a RB, SS and a pass rusher. They don’t have many needs but lack star talent on the defensive side of the ball save for Eric Weddle.
18. Kansas City (9-7)- Breshad Perriman WR UCF
He is FAST! He reportedly recorded a 4.22 40 yard dash time at his pro day which would be one of the fastest ever. Not an over the middle typer player but he would stretch the field similar to DeSean Jackson during his time in Philly. With Maclin on the inside this will help Alex Smith run the west coast offense and Perriman will be used plenty for bubble screens. They don’t have much salary cap room due to the franchise tag they placed on Justin Houston but if they get a long term deal done look for them to beef up their offensive line and their secondary. They should draft a ILB in the next two rounds.
19. Cleveland – from Buffalo (9-7)- Todd Gurley RB Georgia
Already having selected Offensive lineman Brandon Scherff they can move onto another need and that is RB where they really need someone who doesn’t suck. Gurley is coming off injury at Georgia but has insane talent and is relatively fresh due to being suspended for violating the NCAAs bullshit criminal monopolistic rules by signing autographs. He would be a game changer on the field although i would understand the fear of drafting another first round RB by Browns fans (Trent Richardson).
20. Philadelphia (10-6)- Malcolm Brown DT Texas
There are rumors of Chip Kelly moving up to select his college QB Marcus Mariota but I am not predicting trades in this mock draft. The Eagles do fill a need here selecting talented DT Malcolm brown who could take Cedric Thortons spot to form one of the better 3-4 combos in the league with Flethcer Cox or play the nose. They could also use a WR and RG but those options don’t have the value of Brown who is one of the more underrated players in this draft class.
21. Cincinnati* (10-5-1)- Andrus Peat LT Stanford
It seems every year a talented prospect falls to the Bengals you think would have been gone a long time ago. Outside of safety they really lack a position of weakness so they draft for the future here. Whitworth who is one of the best Left Tackles in the league is 33 and ail need to be replaced soon. By taking Peat he can start at LT and you can kick Whitworth into left guard with Boling playing center which would make this a top 3 line in the league.
22. Pittsburgh* (11-5)- Alvin “Bud” Dupree OLB Kentucky
The Steelers have a huge need at corner that they refuse to address in the first round. They love taking linebackers early (Shazier, Jarvis Jones, Timmons) and need a pass rusher to eventually replace James Harrison. Dupree is one of the higher rated players on my board and the Steelers get lucky if he slides. They also could use a left guard, Nose Tackle, safety and a couple corners.
23. Detroit* (11-5)- Marcus Peters CB Washington
The Lions had to deal with the loss of Suh and Fairley but they traded for Haloti Nghata and signed Tyrunn Walker who are going to be their defensive tackles. Darius Slay has been inconsistent and Rashean Mathis is 35 so they need a corner for the future. Marcus Peters is a very talented corner but got kicked off the football team last year due to off the field issues and bad behavior. They could use some offensive line help as well as some pass rushing depth.
24. Arizona* (11-5)- Shane Ray OLB Mizzou
Coming off a strange year many people have the Cardinals taking a running back or someone on the offensive side of the ball and that certainly makes sense but thats just not how the Cardinals do things. They like to build from the inside out primarily through defense. They lack a true pass rusher to put pressure on the quarterback. They signed Sean Whetherspoon to play one side and Ray would play another. Prbably the best GMand Head coach tandem in the league but they have a need additionally at C, RT, RB and on the Dline.
25. Carolina* (7-8-1)- La’el Collins OT LSU
They made the playoffs due to the worst division in years but next year it will be more difficult. Byron Bell is a UFA and likely will not be resigned. They need a LT but some people question whether Collins is a LT or better suited on the interior. I think he would be an all-pro guard but I don’t know how good of a LT he will be but due to his talent I would take him as he has an extremely high floor and he can slide to guard or right tackle as the Panthers are devoid of talent on the oline. They also haven’t had an above average corner since Chris Gamble retired.
26. Baltimore* (10-6)- Jalen Collins CB LSU
The Ravens are mired in salary cap hell which has forced them to trade Ngata and watch Torrey Smith leave. They could absolutely use a receiver here but none are worth taking right now. Jimmy Smith is a UFA in 2016 and will be expensive so Collins could slide in and be the replacement. There is not a lot of holes on this Ravens team but corner depth is important especially to cover Marcus Wheaton and Martavis Bryant of the Steelers.
27. Dallas* (12-4)- Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin
They need a replacement for the departure of DeMarco Murray and while they covet Adrian Peterson the Vikings have said they will not release him. Dallas had a Miracle season last year but they have holes all over the defense filled with below average players outside of Sean Lee and their corners. After selecting Zach Martin last year and seeing that go so well they will not be afraid to make the boring pick. Gordon will be a stud bulldog running back perfect for Dallas.
28. Denver* (12-4)- Ereck Flowers OT Miami
Peyton is going into what is likely his last season in the NFL and Denver must do everything it can to win this year. They have lost talent in free agency in Julius Thomas, Orlando Franklin, Rahim Moore, Nate Erving and Wes Welker that they need to somehow replace. The whole at left guard by the departing Orlando Franklin is the most concerning because Peyton is fragile and immobile at this stage of his career. They can plug Flowers in at RT and move Chris Clark to LG. Still they have to replace depth at other positions in the draft.
29. Indianapolis* (11-5)- Cameron Erving C Florida State
They need a Center for Andrew Luck similar to what Peyton Manning had in Jeff Saturday. Having a leader at center is critical to maintaining consistency in the offensive line. I don’t see any other needs on offense but defense they really do need some help. No one is above average up front and they need safeties but having a center can make a difference and complete this offense which might be the leagues best in 2015.
30. Green Bay* (12-4)- Randy Gregory DE Nebraska
Green Bay builds almost single handedly through the draft. After resigning BJ Raji they really don’t have any holes on their roster but they can look to get better at OLB pass rusher and younger to replace Julius Peppers eventually. Gregory could fall in the draft due to failing a drug test for weed and his bad combine. He needs to gain some weight and going to the Packers can allow his to gain weight and sit for a little before being forced into action.
31. New Orleans – from Seattle* (12-4)- Maxx Williams TE Minnesota
Following the pick of Arik Armstead they could look to address another void which was caused by the Jimmy Graham trade. Drew Brees was vocally pissed off about that trade and they need to get another weapon for him as they’ve lost Graham and Kenny Stills. The Saints are not done making moves as they have had to recover from salary cap hell and have some holes on their team.
32. New England* (12-4)- Jordan Phillips NT Oklahoma
The Patriots did win the Super Bowl so there isn’t a lot of holes but there are a couple following the departures of Darell Revis, Brandon Browner and Vince Wilfork. In Jordan Phillips they can get their next big man to stop the run which is critical toward the end of the game when opponents are trying to run out the clock. They could also use a corner or two.
