For the record I am doing this mock draft based on who I think will go where not who I would take. I am also leaving out trades in this mock draft as they are extremely difficult to predict. To me this draft has very high quality at the top then a meddling 40-50 prospects after that who can really go anywhere from 10th overall to 50th overall.

1 Tennessee Titans- Jalen Ramsey S Florida State

Ramsey is really a special talent who doesn’t come around often and can make a huge difference all over the field and play multiple positions. The Titans also have a big hole at safety and corner where they have Marqueston huff and Brice McCain penciled in as starters. I can see the case for Tunsil as a top talent but they don’t have as much need at the tackle position.There will also be solid tackles available in the 2nd round. They could also very much drop back to a team looking to jump the Browns for a QB I see the 49ers and Jets as possibilities.

2Cleveland Browns- Laremy Tunsil T Ole Miss

Tunsil is the best tackle prospect we’ve seen in years and years. The Browns are taking a LONG term view of their rebuilding plans so I bear the question do you really need to draft a QB? Their starting right tackle right now is Austin Pasztor which is an obvious downgrade from Mitchell Schwartz who bolted to the Chiefs. Joe Thomas is also 31 years of age and could be a big trade chip come midseason and Tunsil could slide over and play LT.

3San Diego Chargers- DeForest Buckner DE Oregon

The Chargers brass suposibly “Love” Buckner and have a need for him as well. The Chargers didn’t get any help in this worst case scenario with the top 2 clear prospects off the board. Buckner would play on the defensive line with Liuget and newly signed Brandon Mebane. The Chargers will be a big rebound candidate next season as they were hit by a rash of injuries this past season.

4Dallas Cowboys- Joey Bosa DE Ohio State

It is rare to see a team drafting this high with relatively few needs especially offensively. They could use a corner but no one really makes sense here they could also use a linebacker like Myles Jack. Aside from Randy Gregory they have a lack of pass rushers on the roster. Bosa is a Jerry Jones type of pick a kid with huge talent but some question marks off the field. I see Bosa as a solid selection and an important one as well.

5Jacksonville- Myles Jack LB UCLA

After a free agent spending splurge which saw them bring in high priced free agents like Malik Jackson and Prince Amukamara they didn’t address the linebacker position. They currently have Dan Skuta, Paul Poslusvny, and Telvin Smith as their starters at linebacker. None are terrible linebackers but Paul is going to be 32 next season while Skuta is overpaid for what he offers. Myles would have time to rest his knee if needed and ease it into action.  I can see a trade back possible for the Jaguars.

6Baltimore- Ezekiel Elliot RB Ohio State

The Ravens have a host of needs all over the field and face a salary cap crunch. They very badly need a OLB pass rusher as Suggs is 33 years old while Dumerville is 32. Justin Forsett turns 31 this season and is not a high quality option in the backfield which doesn’t mold well with this teams offensive philosophy. The Ravens need to run the football to play their game and an upgrade is needed.

7San Francisco- Jared Goff QB Cal

The 49ers have more needs than anybody and I wouldn’t be surprised one bit to see them trade way back in the draft in an effort to accumulate draft selections. Their offense is horrid all over the field save for a few positions so I would assume Goff would likely sit for a year and take time to develop.

8Philadelphia- Vernon Hargreaves III CB Florida from Miami

There are a few positions the Eagles can consider here but it relies on the health of Jaylon Smith. They have a huge weakness at MLB which is a very important position in Jim Schwartz’s defense. My guess its there would move Michael Kendricks inside and have Jaylon outside. Here though they address a major position of weakness in corner where they just traded Byron Maxwell to the Dolphins. They could also go QB if they don’t believe in Bradford/Daniels.

9Tampa Bay- Shaq Lawson DE Clemon

The Bucs have many moe hols than you might think and are a big wild card in the draft. Mike Smith has proven in the past he must get pressure from 4 especially his defensive ends which the Bucs lack save for 30yr old Robert Ayers. Lawson could rotate with Gholston and eventually take over. They could also use a wide receiver or an offensive tackle.

10New York Giants- Laquon Treadwell WR Ole Miss

The Giants signed a plethora of defensive free agents this offseason yet addressing many areas of weakness. On the offensive side of the ball the Giants did very little in free agency. The wide receiver position is thin for the Giants especially if they get an injury at that spot sometime this season. Tread well is a perfect compliment to OBJ as he is a big possession receiver who is able to go over the middle. The knack on Treadwell is his slow speed.

11Chicago- Carson Wentz QB North Dakota State

The Bears are a difficult team to project as they don’t have any glaring holes with the exception of corner where Apple, Alexander or Jackson may be considered a reach.  Jay Cutler will be 33 years old later this month and could be a big time trade chip come the trading deadline. This would give Wentz some time to learn before jumping right into the fray as well as clear the Bears of Cutlers cap number for the 2017 season.

12New Orleans- Corey Coleman WR Baylor

The Saints are a serious rebound candidate for next season assuming their defense is able to tremendously improve even to the mean. They are very thin at the wide receiver position and because of how thin this WR class was they weren’t able to address it. Coleman can help stretch the field for the Saints.

13Miami- Emmanuel OgbahDE Oklahoma Statefrom Philadelphia

Miami is a weird franchise for a lack of a better term. They seem to have a string roster on paper nearly every season but can’t end up putting it together on the field. They could use another LB or a corner as well as help on the offensive line. They have a dire need at RB but if they can’t land Ezekiel Elliot then they are better waiting until day 2 of the draft where there is a host of good options there. Here they obtain more DE depth as both of their current options are over the age of 31.

14Oakland- Will Fuller WR Notre Dame

The Raiders are set up for what should be a big season after landing Sean Smith, Reggie Nelson, Kelechi Osemele, Bruce Irvin and others in free agency. They don’t have a pressing need at WR but Fuller’s speed could wreck havoc on opponents secondaries especially with Amari Cooper and Crabtree on the field. They could use another safety but nothing in this range makes sense.

15Los Angeles Rams- Ronnie Stanley OT Notre Dame

The Rams have not had success taking tackles in the first round recently but the value here can turn their line into one of the best for Todd Gurley to run through. Taking Stanley would bump Greg Robinson to guard and someone like Jamon Brown or Roger Saffold to Center. The Rams are difficult to project as I am uncertain as to what direction they are going.

16Detroit- Reggie Ragland LB Alabama

This is absolutely a make or break year for the Lions and the job security of Jim Caldwell. They are without a #1 receiver as Calvin Johnson retired and have a huge whole at RT. I can see them picking a pass rushing DE but there is none available at this space which makes sense. They can be a big candidate to move back in the draft to acquire picks and fill holes on their roster.

17Atlanta- Cody Whitehair OG Kansas State

I think the Falcons have learned that you must have a strong offensive line to protect Matt Ryan and be able to run the football with Devonta. By picking Whitehair the Falcons will have one of the best offensive lines in the league. Ryan Schraeder the Falcons RT is a free agent after this season and Whitehair could slide over if needed. This can be a scary good offensive line. They could also use a WR, pass rusher, DT or a corner and safety.

18Indianapolis- Andrew Billings NT Baylor

He is a big boy.  The Colts had a strange season last year with the injury to Andrew Luck yet have not done much in free agency at all. They have holes at the interior of the offensive line which must be addressed as well as better play from last years first round pick Phillip Dorsett. On the defensive side of the football aside from Nose tackle they don’t have any glaring holes yet they lack high end talent outside of Vontae Davis. The AFC South will be a fiercesome battle this season.

19Buffalo- Darron Lee OLB Ohio State

The Bills were without a first round pick last year because of the Sammy Watkins trade. The Bills have major holes in their roster due to a salary cap crunch and this is an important season where the playoffs seem like a must. Lee can be a dangerous piece on a defense where his speed can cause problems in both the run and passing game.

20New York Jets-  Leonard Floyd LB Georgia

The Jets can easily select a QB here to replace Fitzpatrick or to be his successor but unless they are very high on Paxton Lynch then I don’t think that makes sense here. The Jets are a solid football team but have lacked pass rushers for quite a while now and in a 3-4 system it is important that issue is addressed. Floyd carries some risk but brings with him talent that is difficult to find.

21Washington- A’Shawn Robinson DT Alabama

A big part to this selection is Robinsons ability to play both the nose tackle and the 5 technique on the defensive line. Washington wanted “Pot Roast” back but he instead signed with the Patriots leaving a big hole in the middle of their defense. I can see them taking a WR here as well due to the cost of Desean Jackson and Pierre Garcon.

22Houston- Robert Nkemdiche DT Ole Miss

Houston doesn’t have many holes on its roster save for Center which they will address later in the draft and DE. This is a good fit for Nkemdiche as he has JJ Watt right on the line with him so he will see plenty of one on one opportunities additionally I believe Watt can get his full effort out.

23Minnesota- Josh Doctson WR TCU

The Vikings have a strong roster and is setting up to move into their new stadium USBank Stadium for the start of next season. Their WR corps is a bit strange as it has immense talent that hasn’t proved itself in Cordarelle Patterson and is not lead by Stefon Diggs who was a 5th round pick last season. Dotson can come in and help provide a dynamic WR corps which is needed to compete with the Packers and Aaron Rodgers.

24Cincinnati- Jaylon Smith OLB Notre Dame

The Bengals have a solid roster and will need to address the safety position later in the draft. The Bengals are a team who takes the best player on their board and here they can make a case for Jaylon. Smith is a dynamic talent but the reason he slipped this far is due to his injury which included major nerve damage in his knee. If healthy this is a steal.

25Pittsburgh- Taylor Decker OT Ohio State

I was wavering whether to pick a corner at this spot but the Steelers don’t draft corners in the first round. They also have more needs than meet the eye with issues at corner, WR and on the defensive line. Here Decker will replace Beachum who left for the Jaguars and will protect Big Bens blind side.

26Seattle- Eli Apple CB Ohio State

This roster has a plethora of holes which is surprising due to their recent history of winning. This is due to very high cap numbers which are starting to hold like for Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor. This team is built around its secondary and doesn’t seem to want to put significant resources into its offensive line. Apple is a Seahawks molded corner who’s big at 6 foot 1 and rangy.

27Green Bay- Noah Spence DE Eastern Kentucky

The Packers are an organization which builds through the draft and does so through quality scouting and developing. Nick Perry is going to be a free agent after this season while Julius Peppers is about medicare eligible. Clay Matthews on the other hand has briefly moved inside but can bounce around. Spence has dynamic pass rushing potential and could be a key player late in games.

28Kansas City- Vonn Bell SS Ohio State

Eric Berry is currently playing under the franchise tag while there is a hole at the other safety position. Bell can come in and play probably from the beginning and will give the Chiefs an option if they want to bring Berry back for the 2017 season. I can also see them taking a WR depending on the development of Chris Conley.

29Arizona- Ryan Kelly C Alabama

This is likely the best roster in the NFL and there aren’t too many holes. The center position is very important and could be the leader of the offensive line which is an are where we have seen the Cardinals put a vast amount of resources in. Kelly will likely be the starter from day 1 on a solid unit.

30Carolina- Karl Joseph S West Virginia

The Panthers are a solid football team but they seem to win when they play the game their way. That is of course solid defense and running the football and the weakest part of the defense is the safety position next to Kurt Coleman. Joseph can help in both the run and the pass game and will be valuable when playing against divisional foes like the Saints and Falcons .

31Denver- Hunter Henry TE Arkansas

The Super Bowl 50 Champion Denver Broncos have a number of holes that were opened up due to free agent departures where they couldn’t afford to pay the free agent like Malik Jackson. The Broncos have a void at TE which isn’t good for what will likely be a younger or volatile QB to start the season. Henry is a big strong target who can be a big time player in the red zone.
